THE GREEN LIGHT
CB: The light represents Daisy and how Gatsby is following her in an endless marathon.
DV
DV: Throughout the story, Gatsby refers to the green light as a symbol of connection to Daisy. He wants Daisy back and the green light connects him to her, its like his motivation "his light at the end of the railroad" if you will. Through his hardwork and dedication of making riches, he is motivated to win Daisy back.
CB: It seems that no matter how hard Gatsby tries to get Daisy, he is never quite able to reach her. The light appears to be getting further away everyday opposed to getting closer to it.
DV: "Gatsby believed in the green light, the orgastic future that year by year recedes before us." This basically symbolizes that Gatsby's target was trying to repeat the past, trying to gain back what was his, it was mostly a reflection of his past and trying to win it back.
