The Eyes are a billboard in the Valley of Ashes that is to advertise for an oculist but they seem to have more meaning then that because Nick Caraway describes them in detail. -LW
In chapter 7, the real meaning of The Eyes has been revealed. They represent God and how The Eyes see everything. The Eyes have known about the trouble in Gatsby life and the Tom's affair. Nothing is keep sacred in chapter 7 and all is revealed. -LW
Theeyes are located in the valley of ashes as a billboard. Although there is much more meaning and representation to the "Eyes". -AV
The eyes symbolize the loss of spiritual values in America. The billboard was erected to promote the business of an optometrist in Queensborough – the eyes symbolize the growing commercialism of America- Kayla Marsalis
In Chapter seven the representation of the eyes is brought out. They know about toms affair and how Daisy was actually the one driving the car that killed Myrtle. He sees past the lies but can not reveal the truth. I think of it as Karma and that what goes around comes back around. -AV
The wonderment of The Eyes is brought to light in chapter 2. Nick describes the The Eyes as 'blue and gigantic-their retinas are one yard high.' I do not know what God's eyes look like but they are probably huge and full of thought. Nick continues to look at The Eyes as he dragged into Myrtle's house by Tom. He say, "...under Doctor Eckleburg's persistent stare." It is until the end that Nick understands the meaning of the The Eyes. -LW
